GMAT is a computer adaptive on line test designed to figure out the verbal, mathematical and analytical writing aptitude of a GMAT taker. GMAT scores form the base around which many decisions are taken on whether a candidate is eligible for admission to B-schools or not. Therefore, GMAT become a ‘must-conquer’ obstacle in front of any candidate wanting to get admission in to a management program of a leading business school.

Before I proceed I must clarify I am no GMAT guru. I am someone who has walked the rope and want to just share how I managed to scale the tough GMAT test despite the challenges.

To beat the GMAT all one needs to have is a sound GMAT prep in place which covers every important aspect of the GMAT.

You will have to inculcate in your scheme of things a sound and disciplined study regime which outlines key areas like time management skills, GMAT books, GMAT pitfalls to avoid, GMAT tips & tricks, GMAT sample questions, etc.

Do not leave any GMAT question unanswered

Never rush through questions.

Get a sound grip on your nerves. Remember: Haste is Waste.

Making yourself acquainted with the online nature of the test by introducing mock GMAT test schedule will also prove beneficial to you.

I am pretty sure it is you who understands the most as to what GMAT means to you and your career objectives. No matter how many tips you come across on the net none will teach you on the importance of this important landmark of your career. So take it in all seriousness with a methodical GMAT prep which takes you through with flying colors.

I want to get a good score on the GMAT, but the prep classes are around $1,000. This is incredibly high, are there any less expensive alternatives that will still help me improve my score. I have the books, but was looking more for an instructor type setting.

If you are a serious aspirant of GMAT, you have to develop a strong grip on English and Math. A serious aspirant will always opt for a GMAT mock test before starting his/ her preparation. This will help a person to judge the situation and assess how he/ she needs to plan out the preparation accordingly. It has been found that students receive less that required training while developing their mathematical abilities. The math section, which is the quantitative section, comprise of questions related to graphical problems, data comparison, grid-ins, data sufficiency and problem solving. You may categorize the math portion broadly in 3 different section; geometry, algebra, and arithmetic.

Geometry section: The paper setters always stress on the questions on geometry. Usually questions in this section are set from circles, rectangles, angles & triangles, solid geometry co-ordinate and squares. You may also find critical questions that will demand extensive knowledge and practicing skills, the easy ones are aptitude based. Nearly 20% of the math questions are from the geometry section.

Arithmetic section: Usually, the standardized tests stress on arithmetic concepts such as average, percent, ratio and numbers. The arithmetic section offer 50% over the quantitative section. There are nearly 55% of the total number of questions in the GMAT test are arithmetic problems.

Algebra section: Algebra section in the test is not as important as the others. In the algebra section the questions are set on advance algebra with inequalities, solving simple equations and quadratic equations and binomial theorem. Nearly 15% to 25% of the math sections are set from algebra. However, it cannot be completely ignored either. A serious aspirant will practise all the types seriously.

Miscellaneous Problems: You will also find some odd questions in the paper. These questions usually involve more than one concept. Such questions will require your common sense apart from your knowledge skills. It is not at all surprising for you to find a geometrical problem that can be resolved into an algebraic expression. This category is called Word Problems. You can do well in this section, by following a two fold technique.

· By developing a grip on the basics of geometry, arithmetic and algebra.

· Using your common sense in the appropriate manner to solve the equations correctly.

While you are preparing for GMAT math, certainly learn the format of the math portion and practice accordingly. Frequent tutorial classes and GMAT mock tests will help you to acquire a better grip on math.

I want to know if anyone has the official guide 11 to GMAT and TOEFL that they want to dispose/sell at a low price

I wanted a comparsion of Veritas, Powersource, Kaplan, Mahattan, and Princeton Review. Please help me decide which course is best for me. I am getting 590 right now and want to improve by 100 points.

The GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test.  It is administered by Graduate Management Admission Council (or GMAC) and required for admission to most U.S., Canadian, and European business school MBA programs. I would like to take a prep course but the cost is high. Is there any help out there for people who can’t shell out $1300 right away?

GMAT Books – For my GMAT prep I made sure that I had the best of GMAT books available to me. Selecting these was a critical decision.

GMAT Sample Test – As they say practice, practice and practice hard GMAT sample test can be an excellent way to gear up to the GMAT challenge.

GMAT Practice Questions – A GMAT prep will not be complete if one does not introduce GMAT practice questions as a part of their strategy. Since GMAT is a computer based adaptive test it makes sense to get accustomed to it by planning a few mock online GMAT test before your D-day.

I hope in the race to be amongst the highest GMAT scores you will not loose your individuality and not take unnecessary stress.

Hi there,
Am planning to give GMAT this year around october, but am not able to decide which coaching classes to join.
I have mixed reviews about both.
Am unsure as to how good are the Pune branch of both the coaching centers.
I have tried studying on my own, i am not motivated enough.

So could you please suggest me which one to pick also could tell me what all books to reffer.
